There are fabulous walks straight from the door, Offas dyke runs through the village of Brockweir, a short walk from the hideout. Tintern abbey is a short stroll away and Symonds Yat has much to offer.

Step out of the kitchen and experience the outdoors whatever the weather within the beautiful logia. The friendly Ryeland sheep may pop by and say hello. Sit and enjoy a glass of something before relaxing in the wood fired hot tub. Watch the many busy birds come to the feeders including green woodpeckers, tree creepers, wrens, gold and marsh tits to name a few.

Explore

The Wye Valley is an amazing place to visit. If you can drag yourself away from this comfortable nature infused hideout (many don’t) there is lots to see and do in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean are full of ancient woodlands for you to explore. Walk, wild swim, mountain bike, climb, or horse ride to explore this stunning area. There are fabulous walks straight from the door, Offas dyke runs through the village. This rich landscape with its many bustling market towns and castles is rich in history and beauty and has lots on offer. Tintern Abbey is a wonderful walk straight from the door. What a beautiful place to spend a spring week. We had a wonderful minimoon at the Owls Nest, using it as a base for exploring the Wye Valley, Monmouthshire, and the Forest of Dean. Beautifully presented, cosy, and very romantic - the wood fired hot tub is a real highlight and an absolute must. Perfect for two with lots of space. The Whitebrook restaurant is very near and perfect for a special occasion. Tintern Parva vineyard just down the road was an unexpected surprise. The icing on the cake were the three sheep who are so friendly and just love carrots. Would completely recommend!

My wife and I stayed at the Owls nest hideout for two nights. The property is gorgeous and has been lovingly converted to a high standard, It's location is perfect, nestled into the side of the valley with beautiful views and just the sound of the birds. Its also very private, no one overlooks you so we were glad we paid a little extra for the hot tub, Lucy had already fired it up for our arrival which was lovely, sitting out in it at night was amazing, looking at the stars and listening to the Owls hooting in the nearby woodland is something we will never forget. The cottage it's self is amazing but it's all the small things and little touches that Lucy does that make it so much more. I honestly couldn't fault our stay, in my opinion she's got the whole thing spot on. If you like the outdoors, mother nature and a bit of luxury you'll love this place.

Owls Nest should come with a warning sign. A sign that reads: YOU WILL NOT WANT TO LEAVE! Owls Nest is a slice of British paradise, and i am not exaggerating when i say ive never felt more at peace anywhere in the world. Having breakfast with a band of friendly sheep a few meters away, the gorgeous Brockweir forests in the background, and thats before even mentioning the inside! Bathtub big enough to swim in, a bed you sink into and my favourite feature... the log fire. The owner Lucy was super friendly and always at the end of the phone, and the local village of Tintern gives you plenty to do if you can pry yourself away from the Hideout! Return trip already booked. The only downside is you will eventually have to leave.

An eco-friendly retreat

Owl’s Nest is run in a very environment-friendly way: an air source heat pump provides all underfloor heating and hot water. All electricity comes from renewable resources. Wood used is from our own renewable sources, Pastures are left fallow to encourage native flora and fauna. Native Orchids in the flower patches. A sustainability plan is in place.
